Dinner Date Ideas

French Dip Sandwiches

French Dips are not only extremely delicious, but they are also super easy to prepare at home! You can also make these quick if you are short on time! If you prefer not to cook and still want to impress your lady, French Dips are an option you want to consider since the prepare time is minimal. My go-to ingredients and instructions are listed below.

  • 4 pack of hoagie buns
  • 10 oz. of thinly sliced roast beef from your local deli
  • Sliced Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 tbsp. of garlic salt

To prepare your French Dips, start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees. To make your jus, heat up your beef broth in a 2-quart saucepan. Add your garlic salt seasoning to the beef broth and continue to whisk. Once the mixture is heated, add your roast beef to the saucepan until warm. Then lay out your hoagie buns and layer roast beef onto each hoagie. Lay your desired amount of swiss cheese on top of the roast beef. Then place the sandwiches in the oven for 3-5 minutes until the cheese has melted. Once the cheese has started to melt, the French Dips are ready to serve!

Flatbread Pizza

My favorite part about Flatbread Pizza is you can customize it for each person! This is an easy meal to please everyone. You and your significant other can both pick out your own toppings for your flatbread. This is a fun meal to prepare together! I have listed the main ingredients below for the flatbread, along with ideas for toppings. However, you can easily change it up and include any toppings you prefer!

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour (and more to roll dough)
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5 tbsp. olive oil (and more for skillet)
  • Topping ideas: diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, pepperoni, shredded mozzarella cheese, minced garlic, sweet onion, oregano, etc.

To begin making your flatbread, preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Whisk together your flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Pour in your yogurt and oil, then mix thoroughly. Once it is mixed, lay your dough on a clean surface and knead until it’s smooth (you can add more flour if it’s sticky). Separate the dough into two pieces and roll into ¼ inch thick. You will then want to heat up olive oil in a skillet (it should cover bottom of pan), place each flatbread piece into the skillet and cook flatbread until golden brown (about 2 minutes per side). Add more olive oil as needed. Once the flatbread is cooked and slightly cooled down, you can begin placing your favorite toppings on top!

Lemon Chicken

The thing I love about Lemon Chicken is if you’re a fan of lemon (like myself), you can often put it together with ingredients you already have at home! There are also countless side options that you can put with this chicken dish. I have included the ingredients and recipe instructions below for my favorite Lemon Chicken.

  • 1 lb. boneless and skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 lemons (1 to juice and 2 to slice)
  • ½ cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp. garlic salt seasoning
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil

To start, you will need to preheat your oven to 400 degrees. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic salt seasoning and zest of 1 lemon. Flip each piece of chicken breast in your mixture until it is fully coated. Once all your chicken is coated, cover a baking sheet with a thin layer of olive oil. Place the chicken breasts on the baking sheet and pour the lemon juice of 1 lemon on top of the chicken. To top off the chicken, add slices of lemon on each piece of chicken. Place in the oven and cook for approximately 15-20 minutes (or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked inside). My favorite sides to pair it with are fresh roasted veggies or garlic mashed potatoes!

Spaghetti with Ground Beef

Our last dinner date idea is a classic that most people enjoy: spaghetti with ground beef. Pasta is not only the ultimate comfort food, but it is also easy to prepare. Even those without the most cooking experience can put together spaghetti. For those that are vegetarian, you can easily make spaghetti by leaving out the ground beef and sticking to a tomato-based sauce. I have listed my favorite ingredients below.

  • 1 and ½ lbs. ground beef
  • 1 lb. uncooked spaghetti noodles
  • 1 can or bottle of your favorite spaghetti sauce
  • 1 tbsp. of olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese

You will want to start by heating up a large skillet and add a non-stick oil based spray. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until beef is thoroughly cooked through. As the beef is cooking, you want to add water to a large saucepan to prepare the noodles. Once the water is hot, add in the noodles and stir frequently until the noodles are soft, but not mushy. Once the beef is done cooking, you want to drain any extra grease and add in your sauce. Then once the ground beef is completely mixed with the sauce, add this to the noodles and mix again. Then your spaghetti is ready to serve! You can complete it some shredded parmesan cheese and garlic bread!
